Trail Comments:
Unlike many of the other trails that I've done in Toyama, Oitsurushi-yama is a relatively mild incline interspersed with only occasional sections of steepness. On the particularly difficult sections, there were plenty of helpful ropes to help get you safely to the top. It is a popular trail, so expect to see a good number of other people during your climb, but it's worth it--this is a fabulous trail and very easy to find. The top of the mountain is completely exposed, so it gives you a great panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and Nyuuzen/Kurobe below. Be forewarned, it's also a very hot summit. If you're in decent shape and don't take too many snack breaks (...guilty!) you should expect to be back to your car about three and a half hours after you've left it. Do be careful on the decent, though, as the sections that are tricky on the way up are even trickier on the way down
How to get there:
Direction starting point: バーデン明日 (バーデンあかひ)
Let google maps direct you to バーデン明日, a hot spring just outside of Nyuuzen. Take the road that runs directly in front of バーデン明日 toward the mountains. It's a well-maintained road that follows along a small river. You should pass a few farm buildings along the way, but there won't be much in the way of signage. Don't worry, you're going the right way. After 5-10 minutes, you should see a sign for the trailhead (負釣山登山道) that directs you to the left. Take it. You'll pass a fork in the road, but stay to the right and you should reach the trailhead in less than five minutes. You can't miss it--this is a very popular trail with a very respectable parking lot. If you need another sign, the road becomes a dirt road immediately after the parking lot.
Enjoy!
